Part One- A History of Women’s Right to Vote and Other Teaching Resources

Nineteenth Amendment

“The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.”

This year (2019) marks the 100th Anniversary of the passing of the 19th amendment, which gave women the right to vote in 1919. The bill officially became law throughout the United States when Tennessee adopted the legislation in 1920. We have written about women’s rights and suffrage in previous articles and will continue writing on this subject matter in this article. This post will be the first of a series of articles dedicated to women’s rights in commemoration of the passage of the nineteenth amendment. This article will offer a brief history of women’s suffrage in the U.S. and will offer some of the challenges women still face today. Below we also reintroduce resources and lessons teachers can use in their classroom to teach women’s rights. 

Brief History of Women’s Suffrage in the US
The fight for women’s voting rights is known as women’s suffrage. Women’s suffrage was first achieved in various states, cities and towns (In some cases on a limited basis) and then ultimately it was established on a national level in 1920. However, the fight for national women’s suffrage was a movement that was a decades-long fight. Although there were disagreements among various groups as to the best approach and strategy to use, women would ultimately overcome all obstacles and acquire the vote, even though it was a long, hard road.

One of the key events for women’s rights and suffrage took place at the Seneca Falls Convention In 1848. At the Convention, a group of mostly women abolitionist activists came together at Seneca Falls, New York to discuss the problem of women’s rights. The leaders of the convention were well known women’s rights activist Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott who invited women from various parts of the US to participate in the convention. Most of the delegates to the Seneca Falls Convention agreed that women should have the right to vote.

In 1869 Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton established a national suffrage organization. Anthony and Stanton’s group was rivaled by a similar organization headed by Lucy Stone. Both were considered extremely radical at the time in the nineteenth century, because women were expected to remain in their place as second class citizens. Over twenty years later the two groups merged in 1890 and formed the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA). They chose Susan B. Anthony as the groups new leader. Another group that fought for women’s suffrage was the Women’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU), established in 1873. The WCTU helped add some momentum to the suffrage movement. During the early 1870’s the suffragists made several attempts to vote, with Susan B. Anthony finally successfully voting in 1872. However, in a highly publicized trial Anthony was arrested and found guilty for voting. Her arrest was good for the movement, giving the movement a major boost. In 1875 in Minor V. Happersett the Supreme Court ruled against the suffragists. Not to be deterred, the organization spent the next forty years fighting for a US amendment that would grant voting rights to women on a national scale, however, their strategy was to try to achieve enfranchisement approaching it state by state. Encouraged by the momentum gained from the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA) Alice Paul formed the more radical National Woman’s Party (NWP) in 1916. The supporters were known as the silent sentinels. A year after the group was established, 200 of the silent sentinels were arrested while picketing the White House and participating in a hunger strike in 1917. Three years later on August 18, 1920 the Nineteenth Amendment was established that gave women the right to vote in the United States of America.                       

Conclusion- Impact of Intersectionality on Women’s Rights

Although today in the twenty-first century women have overcome many obstacles in order to gain the right to vote, there are still many barriers as it relates to women’s rights and equality. Women are still fighting for equal pay in our society. Women are still fighting against the amount of sexual assaults on college campuses; and women also continue to fight for more representation in top level administrative positions. Furthermore, often a woman’s socioeconomic status, race or ethnicity can have an impact on the resources and opportunities she has access to. That is, a woman’s race or socioeconomic background can cause her to have less opportunities than others. This idea idea is known as intersectionality. Cambridge dictionary defines Intersectionality as “the way in which different types of discrimination (unfair treatment because of a person’s sex, race, etc.) are linked to and affect each other. The theory of intersectionality highlights the multiple avenues through which racial and gender oppression are experienced.” In this same way, how are the lived experiences of a low income African American woman different from her middle class white counterpart? How are their opportunities different? In the next article in the series we will explore these questions.

  1. Moments like these make up the better part of our history, as we see the power behind dedication and sacrifice turn into something that changed the world forever. I have spent most of my high school papers diving deep into the history of woman’s rights, as inch by inch they grew, rising to the top despite however many condemned them for it. Not only do powerful stories like these give me strength, but that remind me in times like these, where we continue to fight for our rights and recognition in positions of power, there is a way, we need only fight. I of course have massive respect for the women like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton who fought, but with powerful words and silent protest, rather than aggression and hate. I believe movements like that are truly what garb the most attention, especially in a world filled with so much hate and constant fighting.

  2. Women’s rights hit very close to home for me, mostly because I am a woman. I want to live in a world where I can do the same thing as a man and be paid the same amount. I want to be able to do hard, grueling work and told not to get my hands dirty. I want to cuss out of anger and not be told to act like a lady.Another reason it hits so close to home is because I am currently dating a Trans Man. When he was younger, he was perceived as a female, and therefore treated like a female. There are people in this world who don’t believe the sexes are treated differently, but my boyfriend is proof. His life is completely different now that he presents himself as male and people see him as one. It’s nice to have him on my side as someone who fights for equality. Other men see this and are encouraged to do the same. This isn’t about asking the power roles to be switched. No one wants women higher than men. Lord knows the men could never handle being treated the way women are. We simply want equality. Who is the Susan B. Anthony of my generation? What needs to happen to spark the revolution that creates equal and fail treatment between the sexes?

  3. As I read this article, I was surprised to find that I was familiar with most of its content. I am not yet a teacher so I have not taught about women’s suffrage myself, but I am happily surprised to find that I was taught well in my own education. I remembered almost all of the names of the suffragists and organizations fighting for suffrage. Knowing about the hard fight that gave me my right to vote is a part of what motivates me, as a woman, to vote. I’m very glad my social studies teachers took time to cover this topic well. Teaching this topic can help young women and men understand how important having the right to vote really is.
    I liked the discussion of intersectionality in the last paragraph of this article. The rights and struggles of women are completely different between races and social classes. This point is often left out when history teachers teach about suffrage. For instance, when I was taught about suffrage, my teacher did not point out that most of the leaders of the women’s suffrage movement were upper class, white women. My teacher also didn’t point out how much harder women of color had to fight and how much harder they still have to fight today. I’m glad I was taught well about the basic facts of suffrage, but I hope more teachers cover the part that intersectionality plays in the movement.

  4. Women suffrage is definitely one of the more overlooked parts of American history. This is extremely disappointing because it is a major and unique part of history and as are most history lessons there is something to learn from this part of history. The amount of progress that women were able to make in this time even as second class citizens is incredible. Although women suffrage was eventually resolved through the 19th amendment many of the repercussions of women being treated as second class citizens has not been resolved to this day. Dr. Childs goes into this well in his conclusion so I will not go through every example. Nevertheless I think that people could unify as they did for women suffrage to resolve some of these similar problems. For example if parties were as prominent as they were in the early 1900s and were able to unify as they did in the 1900s then these issues could definitely be addressed by the government.

I have always adored learning about the women’s suffrage movement, maybe because I am a woman, or maybe the way women did a lot of little things to build up to each right they got, including the right to vote. It is odd to think that women in this country have only been allowed to vote for only 100 of the 243 years we have been a country, but then again the whole attitude toward who can vote and why has changed so much in recent history. When the words “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.” were written they were intended only for wealthy white men, we have always very much been a republic, not a democracy. There are still issues for voting, for those that don’t, those that can’t, those that do so without knowledge of what they are voting for, these issues can only change if our culture around voting changes, but the strides we have made for the things we can change, should always be celebrated, no matter how late it seems we have gotten there. Susan B Anthony fought her entire life to vote and never saw the passage of the 19th amendment, women are still fighting for rights in pay, in education, these issues seem so small now because we were once denied basic rights, so now we are asking to much, this is true across race, gender and sexuality lines, where those in the dominant position have decided now that we have basic rights there is nothing to fight for, but this is not true. I really enjoyed the article, I feel like U.S schools do a good job of teaching women’ sufrage, but I do wish they would go more in depth, I feel like I didn’t know what Susan B. Anthony did for the movement, or Mirion Dunlap or even just some of the important women involved until I took AP U.S history in highschool, and I feel like there are a lot of things I’ll never forget because we always went over them in history class every year, but in more depth, I wish this were the case with some of the big names and events in the women’s suffrage movement.

  6. I have always been very interested in learning more about women’s suffrage but it was never a topic we went into much detail about in my history courses. I remember learning that Susan B. Anthony was a very important and well remembered advocate for women’s suffrage but I never heard much about the groups or other women fighting for the cause too. I found this article very interesting and educational and I enjoyed reading it.

  7. Ya know, you’d think because I am a woman I would know more about the women suffrage movement, when in reality all I know is what they taught me in elementary school, which was next to nothing. Over time women acknowledged that they needed to have rights, including the right to vote. The 19th amendment was finally ratified after a longggg time. This is going to sound very condescending, but honestly what is the point? Women can vote, but does their say really matter? So many men with high power still point and laugh at women that work their way up the political ladder. Women still have to fight for every belief they have, and I think that is so ridiculous compared to what men do.

    Overall this was a good post that I found interesting and informative.
    (You’ll have to forgive me if I go off in a tangent about topics that have to do with women, I just think the inequality is still so high and unacknowledged by our current government.)

  8. I think this article put into perspective how long it took for women to gain the right to vote. I look many years then after achieving the goal of the suffrage movement there were still other obstacles women faced in society. I think after the women suffrage movement, the next large women’s movement would be the feminism movement.

  9. My mom has taught me for as long as I can remember that women deserve everything men have. Things as important as equal pay or things like women should be holding the same respect that men have worldwide. While reading this I began to realize that the only time I have learned much about women’s suffrage is from my mom. I remember learning a little bit about Susan B. Anthony in school but this article went more into detail than my teacher did. Women’s suffrage should be discussed more in school so that kids grow up knowing how hard women in the past have fought for their freedom.

  10. As a woman, the women’s right movement has always been a great interest of mine. Although we have successfully fought for the right to vote, I don’t see the same amount of effort Susan B. Anthony and her colleagues had. I don’t see a movement being put together to fight for equal pay, to fight against sexual assault and the unreported cases, and to fight for more representation in top administration. If we put forth the same amount of effort as Susan B. Anthony and her colleagues did, we can successfully end our fight. And most importantly win the same equal rights as men have.

  11. It is a crazy to me that it took that long for women’s suffrage to even pass. Truly it was only 100 years ago which is not that long in terms of rights. Now when we look at it today women have come a long way with their rights, but of course they still face the hard ships listed. Coming from someone who is a male, at times I do not quite understand as I don’t have to face what women do, but after having worked around them for so long I start to listen and try my best to put myself in their shoes. I truly think it comes down to educating the young on topics like this so they can be aware, with their awareness can come change.

  12. Its amazing to think how far women have come in 100 years but crazy to think how far we still have to go to be treated the same was men. Susan B. Anthony was an incredible woman who did so much to get women the right to vote. She had the bravery to even get arrested in pursuit of her goal and in the end it brought a lot of attention to the cause. Its really important to teach kids about the history of voting because its been so many years that many students might not realizes that women and African Americans didn’t have the right to vote at one point. With this being the 100th anniversary of the passage of the nineteenth amendment its a good chance to teach kids about it and to celebrate how far we have come in trying to give everyone equal rights even if we aren’t where we need to be we have made a lot of progress.

  13. How far women have come since 1919 amazes me but its sad that women’s suffrage really isn’t over. As a female there are places i should be able to go without fearing for my life. Or that when i get a job that there may be a chance where there is a male that happens to have the same job as me and he were to get paid more than me. Women’s rights are just as important as men’s rights there needs to be more involvement in fighting for all equality and put an end to all the nonsense.

  14. It is crazy to think that only one hundred years ago women were given the right to vote. I think that today we take advantage of our right to vote, considering that not long ago this would have been possible for us as women. Even though these women did so much for us to secure that right, we still face many issues with equality, specifically when it comes to our place and pay in the work force. Teaching the women’s rights movement is an important lesson that we can share with our future students. I can’t wait to inspire little girls in my class with the stories of these brave and determined women.

  15. Definitely interesting as well as fundamental to look back into history and see the progression of women’s rights and to see how much they were fought for. I definitely am thankful for some of the amazing female models as well as political figures that helped shape our country that it is today. I genuinely can’t imagine living in a world where women didn’t have the right to vote– let alone everything else that women lacked power towards. It was cool to have a refresher on fundamental events that occurred in history and especially was good to have a refresher on what individuals like Susan B Anthony did, just because it has been years since I have learned about what she has done.

  16. While I do think it is important to look back in history and see how far we have come since then, women’s rights is something that we still fight for today. The conclusion to this article could not be more spot on to what we are still dealing with. It is very similar to how we viewed African Americans. I hate to think about women being second class citizens, but then I realize that some days I do still feel as though we are. Men seem to be given the best job opportunities and given the persona that they are stronger and should be the bread winner for families. Something else that strikes me from this time is that we were kicking women out and arresting them for trying to vote. In our society today, we practically have to beg men and women to vote. Times have really changed in that aspect. I am just thankful for all of the women who stood up for our rights and got us one step closer with that nineteenth amendment.

  17. It’s exciting to think that we have already come 100 years from the 19th amendment. Although we have done a lot within that 100 years, it’s concerning to think about what women still have to fight for each day. Something that interested me from this article is the mention of intersectionality. Often times when people discuss women’s suffrage, they tend to group all women together. Most of the time this is not the case. Like men, women too are treated differently depending on the color of their skin. Although we have come a long way since the 19th amendment, we still have a long way to go to be fully treated as equals.

  18. One hundred years ago women gained the right to vote. This is monumental. The way the women are perceived in this day and age versus a hundred years prior is vastly different. That is not to say that we still don’t have far to go. There are still so many disadvantages women have to men just based off of where our thoughts were 100 years ago on women and the role they played in society. Women are still seen as less than men all the time. This goes to show that change in our country is a very slow process. Just because it is slow does not mean it is not happening or important. Hopefully we will continue to move in the right direction as there are so many women in the world still fighting each day for their rights.

  19. After reading part one of this series, I am interested in reading the rest of the series, as well. I agree that it is very important to teach about the battles that women had to face when trying to gain the right to vote. The teacher resources about incorporating this topic are very helpful for future educators. This is not a topic that should be skipped over. I also like the conclusion of this article because it addresses the fact that women are still fighting for equal rights within our society 100 years later! This point is a contreversial topic for many. I’m not sure if people are in denial, they are taught wrongly, or misinterpreted the content. However, many men and women need to realize that although women gained the right to vote we are not treated or viewed as equal to men.

  20. This article gave me a deeper understanding of the journey to women’s right to vote. I truly look up to Susan B Anthony and the other women that were standing up for their rights during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Even though women have been given the right to vote, I still believe there are other barriers that need to be addressed and changed to provide women with more rights in equality. As a woman, I’m still fighting for equal pay in my society and representation in top level administrative positions. A woman’s socioeconomic status, race, and ethnicity have an impact on the resources and opportunities accessible to us. I don’t believe this should be the case though. It’s not about how we look or where we come from, but the way we perform, and the way we carry ourselves. It’s my hope that these issues will be addressed and barriers will be broken during my lifetime.

  21. Although it has been 100 years since the historic 19th amendment granted women the right to vote, there is indeed still a fight for equality. People will often dismiss these questions of equality by pointing towards legislation in the past, but progress is not as simple as a document might make it seem, and there are still aspects of equality that have not been clearly addressed or outlined today. The conversation around women’s rights is one that should be a continuing one. The myriad of problems facing women today are much different than they were 100 years ago, and the pursuit for equality as merged towards other rights and issues besides the right to vote.

  22. This was a really good article on some of the history that came with women’s suffrage. Being only 25 years old it is hard for me to fathom that women were not even aloud to vote. It was interesting to see that although the law was passed in 1920, that it had been many years of fighting for that right. This is something I have really not learned much about throughout my schooling. Our country has come a long way since the 1900’s but as stated in the article women are still effected negatively in our society because of their gender. The movement will probably always be ongoing but the last 100 years has shown that we are capable of moving in the right direction.

  23. The establishment of the nineteenth amendment was the first major step in the continuing battle for equality of women in this country. It is no secret that our country has and for the most part still is run by predominantly, white men and because of this any citizens that do not fall into the category are going to face challenges that this group won’t. Some groups have it worse than others like black women because they are dealing with issues of intersectionalty  but above all the fact that everyone has a say in our politics is huge for creating change and eliminating the challenges that the non dominant groups face. 

  24. I think this was a good article and helped me learn some new history content. As the article said, I think it is good to look back and see how far women have come, but we still have a long way to go. It is interesting to think about this in terms of education too. I think when kids are young you can teach them basic equal rights. Such as that girls can run fast and play sports at recess just like the boys. Then, as kids get older they can learn more about the history behind equal rights. Also, the article mentioned women still be underrepresented in top-level administration and still fight for equal pay. This made me think about most school settings. I feel like many schools are made up of mostly female teachers, and mostly male administrators. I think this is an important article and definitly something to think about as educators.

  25. I found the list of resources for teachers quite useful. I myself don’t remember learning about women’s suffrage until high school history class. However, with the centennial of the 19th amendment coming up next year, I think as teachers it would be good to take time and discuss this anniversary that changed so much. While women and other minorities have a long way to go in achieving true equality, I look forward to celebrating the centennial and to exercising my right to vote, as it was fought for very hard by the suffragettes.

  26. This article put in perspective the obstacles that women conquered to gain the right to vote. Although women gained this right 100 years ago, women still fight for equality in our society today. Women are still seen as less then men, especially in the work place. Women’s suffrage is such an important topic for students to learn about. I only remember learning about Susan B. Anthony very vaguely. Teaching about women’s suffrage will put in perspective for students how hard women have fought for their rights and continue to fight for equality today.

  27. After reading this article I have realized that I do not know a lot of information about women’s rights. This is crazy to me as a college student I do not know more information about this topic. In the schools we as future teachers need to keep this in mind when we are teaching our students about how far our society has came over the past 100 years. Most students will not know about these moments in history and how we are still dealing with it today. Women are still fighting for equal pay and equal rights in the work place. I am sure we are going to be able to overcome these obstacles in years to come but we have to fight for what we want in our lives.

  28. When reading this article I was pleased to remember my education as a child, knowing about the women’s suffrage movement. I know we as women were given the right to vote and that was suppose to be enough for us because that equaled us out with men on the voting scale. Yet we still do not have equality as women today. We are still getting paid less, we are still being looked over for jobs that “are for men”. Of course our society is changing and the wave of equality is definitely rising on the surface level, which is very important and is a huge step, but we need equality throughout our systems and advances. I want to be able to be paid as much as a man for a job I can do just as well, I want to be able to do the job a man can do and be just as satisfactory. It is important to know the history of women’s suffrage and the steps that have been taken to try and end it, but it is also important to know it is still occurring in society today.

  29. As a woman, I learned a lot in this article. I didn’t realize that this year was the 100th year anniversary of women’s right to vote. I agree that women have overcome a lot as a gender, but we still have a long way to go. I liked the lesson plans and resources you provided should we choose to teach this in our classroom.

  30. Women’s suffrage is a major part of our country’s history yet it is rarely taught in schools. When I was in high school I had a female American History teacher and even she failed to draw attention to the importance of the work and determination that led to the 19th amendment. While I am familiar with Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, I was unfamiliar with the other women mentioned in this article even though they were also major activists at the time. This article highlights important past and current unfair treatment. I also find it very interesting that our country granted African American men, once used as slaves, the right to vote before women.

  31. As a woman, I do believe that I take advantage of the opportunity to vote. I never think much about women in earlier years having to fight so hard to gain this right. I was never aware that a woman, Susan B. Anthony, was arrested for voting. Why was this viewed as a criminal act? I will never understand why men are always viewed as the superior sex, but I do know that women can be capable of just as much as men if not more. Having women at the table can bring MANY opportunities for a business. I hope for full equality in the near future, but who knows? Considering the fact it took so long for women to just gain the opportunity to vote.

  32. As I read this article I am reminded of phrases such as “Good things take time” or the idea that if a change for the better is going to happen, it will first be met with resistance. We see this same process with the Civil Rights movement. Groups of women (peacefully) fought for their right to vote for roughly 40 years, and did not stop until they achieved their goal: gaining the right to vote. I am encouraged by the determination of these women in our history. As a teacher, I want to express to my students that the good things we have in are country are often because someone fought for them. Whether this be our military veterans, colonists fighting for our freedom, or women fighting for their right to vote.

  33. It Is really interesting to learn that this year is the 100th anniversary of women having the right to vote. Even though this was a great thing for women, it really makes you think about all of the other things that women don’t have the right too. This article made me realize all of the things that women still don’t have like having equal pay in our society, representing higher jobs and or sexual assaults un public places. I know that I take advantage of the right to vote and I forget how important it actually is to vote and for women to have the right. I wish that I thought more about the rights that I have as a women and didn’t take them for granted. As a teacher you can incorporate a lesson about women right to vote and women suffrage. This will help the students to learn about the 19th Amendment and to be familiar with it and its importance.

It is crazy to me that the abolitionist activists went to Seneca Falls in 1848, where the delegates agreed that women should have the right to vote, and women still weren’t granted the right to vote until 1919. I feel so fortunate to live in a time where both men and women have the right to vote. The fact that women were thought of as second-class citizens is truly astounding. Women did (and still do) so much, and to be undermined and have a basic right taken away, is unbelievable. I feel so much gratitude for all the women who fought for our right to vote. I cannot imagine living in such an unjust time.

  35. I believe that Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton paved the way for feminist movements to want equal for women. I believe that movements like the Me Too movement would have not been possible without the courage of Anthony and Stanton who had the bravery to continue the fight even with the backlash that was given to them.

Reading this article made me think back to January of 2017, when I walked in the Women’s March in Cincinnati holding a sign and chanting with my older sister, Maria, the day after President Trump was inaugurated. It is so interesting to think that women were granted the right to vote in 1920, yet we are still fighting to be seen as equal to our male counterparts in the 21st century. Women’s suffrage is a topic I have always been extremely passionate about since I was old enough to really understand the 19th Amendment and the dedication and boldness of countless women in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. I remember reading my AP U.S. History textbook junior year of high school and seeing the picture of the iconic female abolitionist activists holding the banner at the top of the article from the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848. I did not know that the national suffrage organization that Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton established was rivaled by a similar one headed by Lucy Stone. It was also neat to learn more about the NAWSA, WCTU, and NWP, which were all instrumental organizations in the movement. Finally, I loved the description of intersectionality at the end of the article, in that we don’t always remember to consider how different types of discrimination are linked to and affect each other.

  37. I really enjoyed reading this article! As a woman, I am so thankful for the 19th amendment passing. It is crazy that after over 100 years, women are still having to fight for their rights. I hat that I have learned to be afraid of walking alone at night. As a future educator, I think that teaching students about women’s sufferage and how far they have come in 100 years is extremely important. I have never seen a lesson plan based on Women’s rights! I feel like all of my life I have learned about the suffrage of others but I never learned about the suffrage of women unless I take time out of my own day to research it.

  38. I remember when I went to go visit my second grade placement class, students had just started learning about some of the different presidents. While looking at the poster with portraits of the 45 presidents, one of my old students asked “why are they all dudes?” and my old cooperating teacher responding in a sort of joking manner “because there’s something wrong with this country.” Most students were unaware that women were not even able to vote for president until 100 years ago. I think that it is important to talk to students about how different people in the United States have been treated throughout history, including not only racial/ethnic minorities, but the biggest minority of all: women. When students learn about the Constitution and voting, I think many of them assume all people had the right to vote from the beginning- but it involved years and even generations of fighting to get that right for many Americans. I found a really great book titled “I Can Do That: Esther Morris gets Women the Vote” that tells the story of real-life figure Esther Morris and how she got women the right to vote within the Wyoming Territory. It tells how difficult it was for much of the society to accept it. I think a discussion about women’s suffrage in America’s past could also lead to a great discussion about women’s suffrage (or lack thereof) in other countries of the world today.

  39. Although this article was written about a year ago, I found great reward in reading it today and in today’s climate. With the Presidential Election just around the corner, lately, I have found myself to be more grateful that I have the opportunity to vote as a woman. In many aspects, our nation is at a crossroads. The women before me, like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, were trailblazers. They fought and sacrificed for women’s suffrage. Because of them, my vote counts! I was encouraged by this article and by the resources provided. As a future educator, teaching young girls that their voice matters and that they too can be trailblazers is incredibly important.
