Despite pandemic disruptions in the entertainment industry, it’s been a good summer so far for pop culture—especially Black culture, with significant new releases from some of our favorite creators.
In this special episode featuring our friend and film critic TT Stern-Enzi, we break down Summer of Soul, Questlove’s incredible documentary celebrating the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival (the so-called Black Woodstock that was largely ignored by white America, until now), and share a few other favorites to see and hear.
The podcasters:
- Jordan Polk (host), WVXU Democracy & Me intern
- TT Stern-Enzi, artistic director of Over-the-Rhine Film Festival
- Derrick Smith, WGUC Classics for Kids intern
- Jordan Shaw, Cincinnati School for Creative and Performing Arts
